Isolate The Variable and Solve…
That’s the philosophy of the scientific method, which is a concept I apply to data analytics.
What does that mean?
Having a comprehensive overview of all the possible factors influencing an outcome.
In more detail, I isolate a variable in a control and test space with an A/B test setup, then I collect quantitative and qualitative observations and build attribution models. That’s just the basics of data analytics; beyond that, it's about building attribution models, creating conversion path outlines, understanding what particular patterns and trends mean, and building a hypothesis.
It’s not as simple as you may think, but in theory its just comparing good data sets and looking for overall trends and patterns the building of attribution models show what streams/channels are generating the most traffic or revenue.
Overall, it’s something that takes time and practice. Data analytics is a skill that requires understanding how to collect, analyze, and attribute data. It’s something that has to be practiced and adapted to with modern-day techniques and old-school data analytics principles.
